Making a difference
How do I know if I am making a difference in the world with what I do?
Response:
I would recommend creating an image of what "meaningful contribution” means to you as part of a "vision book." It may mean you need to do some visualization meditations first. What do you see yourself doing? What is the purpose behind it? What do you want to be bringing to the world? What meaningfulness is created for others? What is your legacy or footprint you want to leave? Create a visual picture of that – through collage or images or writings and refer back to that in times of doubt. What is your “big picture?" Once you are clear on this make reviewing or meditating on this part of your daily activities.

Attaining Success
How do I attain success?
Response:
The first thing I would ask you - is what do you consider success? Raising a healthy, happy family? Contributing to your community? Doing what you love? Traveling where you desire? Television, newspapers, advertising, and media, in general, tells us what should make us happy and what measures as "success." However, a closer look at the material "stuff" that is highlighted, is not a guarantee to make one happy or even make you feel successful. The answer lies within YOU! You get to determine what makes YOU successful. Once you are clear on that, you just need to start taking the steps one at a time to make it happen!

problem
How do you choose your career?
Response:
Making decisions on one's career path is an on-going journey. Gone are the days when a person typically stayed in the same career for 30+ years. In fact, as students enter university, many of the careers that will be available when they graduate don't even exist today. Most people are changing career positions every three to five years. At the same time, even though they change careers, they often stay within the same field. Now this is good news if you enjoy the field you are working in. If you decided as a young adult, for example, to go into finance, because you thought you would enjoy the work and then realized 10 years later you really can't stand this type of work, it may be time to switch fields.
It is important to spend some time getting clear about what you enjoy, where your gifts and talents lie, and what you value as important for lifestyle. These are the critical factors in determining your steps in a career path.
The great thing about this journey is that you don't have to get it "right" the first time - you can adjust your path along the way. This is where a coach can be beneficial - helping you clarify your values, stay focused on the process, and providing encouragement and support along the way.
Keep your thoughts coming...
Sincerely,
